Jazz Band auditions for the 2016-2017 school year will be held on WEDNESDAY, MAY 11, 2016. Auditions will take place at Carroll Senior High School (1501 W. Southlake Blvd), in the Black Box Theatre located in the Fine Arts wing (behind the CSHS Auditorium).

CLICK HERE to download the Carroll Jazz Audition Packet PDF. The file contains audition etudes for all instruments in the Carroll Jazz Program. Be sure to read the first two pages carefully, as it contains extremely important information about the audition. 

The audition will consist of (a) a prepared etude; (b) sight-reading; and (c) an optional performance of an improvised solo. Details are in the cover letter in the PDF linked above.

The Carroll Jazz Program has had a busy and exciting Spring, and there is lots more to come!

The Jazz Ensemble won 1st place in their division at the TCU and UTA Jazz Festivals, the Jazz Band won 1st place in their division at the UTA Jazz Festival, and the Jazz Orchestra won 1st place in the 6A-1 division at the UTA Jazz Festival. The Jazz Orchestra also hosted the One O’Clock Lab Band at its annual Apex Jazz Festival in Southlake in February.

In March and April, we will be hosting Swing School, our annual program for Middle Schoolers. Our jazz ensembles will also be playing throughout the Southlake community in April, including a performance at Art in the Square on Sunday April 24th at 3:30pm.

The Spring Jazz Concert is on Tuesday May 3rd at the Carroll Senior High School Cafeteria at 6:30pm. It will feature performances by the Swing School Jazz Band, the DMS Jazz Band, the CMS Jazz Band, and all three high school Jazz Ensembles. The bands will also be joined by guest artist Stockton Helbing, current drummer for trumpet legend Doc Severinsen. Admission is free, so please come out and enjoy the evening!
